Alfonso Cuarón's "Roma" is a Lurid, Poetic Masterpiece

The latest film from Gravity's director, Alfonso Cuarón is both a poetic and documented look at a family's life in Mexico City during the 1970's.

The small details, such as the introduction with water rushing down the drain and the sounds of the family dog barking, almost immediately and hypnotically take us to the place where we are fully immersed in the day-to-day lives of the housekeeper, Cleo, another maid named Adela and the middle class family of mother, father, their four children and grandmother.  Cuarón calls our attention to the design of life in a profound way. Partially based upon his own life growing up in Mexico City, he takes us on a thematical journey through the streets and homes of Mexico in 1970 that is both authentic and intimate in feel. Yalitza Aparicio's performance is heart-wrenching and moving.

I was dazzled by this film and I think you will be, too.
