"Life Itself" Leaves Void Where There Should Be Story

"Life Itself" the latest film from Dan Fogelman, "This is Us" writer and director, tells a multigenerational tale beginning with a family tragedy that takes the viewer through a long, twisted and painful journey into the future where the movie leaves us on a very short, happy note.

The film includes powerful performances from Oscar Isaac and Olivia Wilde despite the fact that the film is lacking substance.

While Dan Fogelman explores the concept of the unreliable narrator throughout the film, it was cliche and didn't work to support what he was trying to do. By killing off the heroes in the story, he left the audience with an empty void where there should have been a story. The film is a tear-jerker and manipulates your emotions with stunning amounts of tragedy.

Antonio Banderas was wonderful in this and the music from Federico Jusid and cinematography by Brett Pawlak was breathtaking.
