"Aquaman" Doesn't Hold Water

Aquaman, the latest from the DC universe, plunges the viewer into the exquisite underwater realm and mythical kingdom of Atlantis. It stars Jason Momoa and Amber Heard.

It's an action-packed film that follows Aquaman as he grows up on land and goes on to fight for his place as king of the underwater kingdom.

I felt that the film was missing many important story elements. While the script followed the traditional hero's journey, it appeared to be a rough draft taken from a Save the Cat! workshop and it really didn't hold water, no pun intended.

For example, I had no idea that the nemesis, Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) was a super-villain or important to the film. Once again, the film failed to provide any decent explanation for who he was, or why he was important.

The visuals were stunning and breathtaking, but the story failed in so many ways, that I'm giving it a D.
