"The Curse of La Llorona" Gives Chills

LA LLORONA is the latest horror film from the makers of THE CONJURING, a thrilling ghost story  that makes you feel like it could happen to you in real life.

LA LLORONA is directed by Michael Chaves and features Linda Cardellini, Patricia Valásquez, and Marisol Ramirez.

LA LLORONA is based on a Mexican folktale about what is known as the "weeping woman" who drowned her own children. In the story, her ghost appears seeking out human children to take with her leading to their deaths by drowning.

It's a dark and frightening legend that comes to life and haunts the home of a single mother and her two kids.

There were lots of jump scares and interesting directing techniques and this made the story interesting throughout Act I and Act II.

However, the story fell apart in Act III with the arrival of the shaman and the family huddling together in the house to rid themselves of the demonic spirit. Overall, the film felt a little conventional and predictable and the ending was highly unsatisfying and too neatly wrapped up.

I give this film a C.
