"The Russian Five" tells the true story of the rise of The Detroit Redwings in the 1980's and the incredible journey that took this team to the Stanley Cup in 1998.
It's about the journey of three talented Russian hockey players: Vladimir Konstantinov, Sergei Fedorov, and Slava Kozlov who defected from the Soviet Union and came to the United States to play for the Detroit Redwings.
The documentary deals with international politics and the cultural challenges facing Detroit, The Red Wings and specifically, hockey players during the Cold War.
