“Hustlers” is Honest, Revealing

More than a decade after the largest financial recession in recent history, a powerful story comes to the surface: it's the true story of female strippers working in New York City during the 2008 crash on Wall Street and The Great Recession that forever changed the lives of ordinary, hard working Americans.

In the film, we meet Destiny, an immigrant, brilliantly played by Constance Wu, and the street-smart Ramona, played by the dazzling Jennifer Lopez, as two women who form a powerful friendship that starkly contrasts from the fabricated glitz and glamour of the club, to reveal something honest and beautiful that stands out from the hollow sheen of money and power presented to them from their Wall Street clientele.

The film evocatively reveals the truth behind the crookedness of the "upstanding" citizens who frequent the strip club and shows the child-like innocence of the women who serve the men there.

Altogether, a fine film. For sensitive viewers, be forewarned. There is a lot of foul language and quite a bit of explicit sexual content.
