Forgiveness in "Emanuel" is Salve for America

EMANUAL is the name of a new film, directed by Brian Ivie and executive produced by Stephen Curry and Viola Davis.

Emanual tells the tragic story of a church in the grips of an act of terror.

On June 17, 2015, a white supremacist opened fire on Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina and shot and killed nine African American members of the congregation.

The film includes intimate interviews with survivors and family members of the deceased and deals with the aftermath of the shootings and the impact it had on the entire community. There is a powerful scene where President Obama breaks into song, singing "Amazing Grace" at the congregation's eulogy service for the departed.

This is a film for our time, and yet, it remains timeless.

I hope that every American will see this film. I hope that every human will watch this film and share its powerful message with the world.
