“GEMINI MAN” Sets Precedent for Future Tech

The visionary director, Ang Lee (LIFE OF PI, CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON)
is creating new buzz around Hollywood for his new technology that’s showcased in GEMINI MAN featuring Will Smith as a veteran government agent/assassin who discovers that a much younger, more agile agent is sent to kill him when he’s prepping to retire. Smith discovers that the agent hunting him is a clone of himself.

The script for GEMINI MAN has been circulating around the industry for about 20 years.
However, the technology wasn’t available in 1997 when the script was conceived.

Elizabeth Gabler, former Fox 2000 head, made a similar decision with the 2012 film, LIFE OF PI, holding onto the script until the technology became advanced enough to tell the story.

Weta Digital, Peter Jackson’s brainchild was responsible for the tech.

While the storyline was predictable and corny, unoriginal jokes were sprinkled throughout, the technology was revolutionary and may yet set a precedent for films of its kind.
