Compelling, dark, unraveling, unhinged, brilliant--Joaquin Phoenix is all of these things and more--in one of the years' most sought-after films: JOKER.
Joaquin delivers an uncannily real performance that lifts a simple superhero tale into one that defies the political and socio-economic realities of 2019 and transcends to take its place among the great epics of Homer and Dante. While the writing itself is decent at best, but nothing extraordinary, Joaquin as the Joker is truly a performance for the ages.
