SPEED OF LIFE is a Slow Simmer

SPEED OF LIFE is an experimental film from writer-director Liz Manashil. The story hinges on the death of iconic artist David Bowie as a theme that sets the tone for an ambitious, experimental movie about love, loss and life.

The film opens when June (Allison Tolman) gets in a lovers' spat with her partner, Ray Santiago. Ray falls into a wormhole that brings him back to his June (Ann Dowd) 24 years later. She's now facing her own mortality, as her 60th birthday is nearing and must be faced with some big, existential questions.

The film had some depth to it, but I found the pacing to be incredibly slow and I had a hard time being invested in the characters due to the pacing issue. However, the movie seems to redeem itself 100 minutes in, when older June meets her younger self.
